The social media are very influential and well known as a space for free debate, flow of information and discussions without any obstacles. This is a space where a lot of young, but also older people have the freedom to express themselves and feel influential, space where these people profile their self-developing critical thinking and constructive debating and engaging other users of the social networks in the debates and freedom of expression. According to the world statistics, more that 53% of the Macedonian citizens are regularly using internet. The usage of social media like a mean for political communication is and will be a significant tool for communicating the message of the political leaderships, especially using the two way of interactive communication with the citizens / voters. The online communication helped to some parties in the region especially the social platforms like Facebook. In Albania the Facebook campaigning of Edi Rama brought the light to his policies and mainly to his political messages. The same happened in Croatia, as well as in other SEE countries..
FES Skopje is hoping to provide practical knowledge for proper use of social media as a powerful tool for NGOs, political representatives and activists to reach certain audience and to enhance visibility of their policies, concepts and visions in the context of achieving synergy in the activities. On the other side, addressing public opinions and articulating important political, economic and social issues require contents which are socially responsible and within the democratic guidelines and principles, since every post, disseminated within a second, can influence in decision making process and legislation, self-promotion and agenda-setting.
